SUMMARY:Tate Geological Museum Saturday Club: Mammoths & Sabertooths
DESCRIPTION:What to Expect \nJoin us Saturday\, October 3rd\, for Saturday Club. Mammoths and Sabertooths – Fossil Mammals will focus on the Ice Age\, one of the most interesting times in geological history. In this Saturday Club we will learn about the wild and woolly mammals that lived during the ice age\, and then construct our own “Prehistoric Zoo.” Pre-cut stand-up beasts will be available for younger students to decorate\, while more advanced members can use templates to trace and cut out their own. There’s also the option of designing and folding your own custom-designed beast from scratch. \nSaturday Club is free and open to children ages 7–14. The Tate Geological Museum is located at the southern end of the Casper College campus; look for the life-size T. rex bronze near the Tate or call the museum at 307-268-2447.

SUMMARY:WHS Okie Mansion/Lost Cabin TREK
DESCRIPTION:Step into the Wind River country to explore the fascinating contrast between Gilded Age ambition and frontier conflict. Before departing Riverton\, learn about the hallowed grounds of the Bates Battlefield. This trek takes you to the legendary Lost Cabin\, the desert empire built by “Sheep King” JB Okie. You’ll explore the grounds and tour his grand stone mansion\, an architectural marvel of its time. An optional hike (roughly 2 miles of moderate hiking) up to the rugged heights of Battle Butte. (Option to stay for a tour and presentation of the old Lysite School House as an alternative.) It is a day dedicated to the entrepreneurs and warriors who shaped the spirit of central Wyoming. \nIncludes: comfortable transportation and lunch. Registration is on the Society’s conference ticketing page. \nThis trek was moved to October 11 from April 25\, 2026.
