Our Books
We publish a number of our own books and periodicals to help keep the stories of Wyoming alive. Everything still in print is sold through our own store. Feel free to inquire about any titles that are listed as Out of Stock and we'd be happy to provide any additional information that we have.
NewThe Heartbeat of Mother Earth: Pow-Wow Dancers of the Wind River
Published July 2026
A collaboration between the photographer Jeb Schenck and the dancer and educator George Abeyta, made on and around Wyoming’s Wind River Reservation. Photographs taken during live celebrations run alongside oral histories told by the dancers themselves.
It moves through the dances one at a time, from the Jingle Dress to the Men’s Traditional, and is offered as an invitation: a bridge between generations, and between the reservation and its non-native neighbours.

Wyoming History in Art
The Society and its fundraising arm, the Wyoming Historical Foundation, have published a full color book featuring thirty paintings of important people and events in Wyoming history done by the late artist Dave Paulley, each with a full original narrative by Dr. Jeremy Johnston, author and historian.
The original paintings were created in celebration of Wyoming’s Centennial, and are held by the American Heritage Center. A limited number of these books have been printed.
