The Wyoming Historian

The Wyoming Historian is the Wyoming Historical Society’s journal of Wyoming history. It picks up the thread the Annals of Wyoming carried from 1923, and the first issue appeared in February 2026.

Each issue is a bound paperback rather than a stapled periodical, on the reasoning that a journal meant to be kept should survive being kept. Single issues and a year’s subscription are both sold through the Society’s store.

In this issue

  1. Taking the Train to Yellowstone
  2. William A. Carter and the Fort Bridger sutler store
  3. “Persimmon Bill”: a life of William Chambers
  4. The Beehive Boom: charcoal kilns in southwestern Wyoming
  5. A fatal night aboard the Overland Limited, 1905
  6. Book reviews and Society Chronicles
