Our Books

We publish a number of our own books and periodicals to help keep the stories of Wyoming alive. Everything still in print is sold through our own store. Feel free to inquire about any titles that are listed as Out of Stock and we'd be happy to provide any additional information that we have.

The Heartbeat of Mother Earth: Pow-Wow Dancers of the Wind River

Jeb Schenck and George Abeyta

Published July 2026

A collaboration between the photographer Jeb Schenck and the dancer and educator George Abeyta, made on and around Wyoming’s Wind River Reservation. Photographs taken during live celebrations run alongside oral histories told by the dancers themselves.

It moves through the dances one at a time, from the Jingle Dress to the Men’s Traditional, and is offered as an invitation: a bridge between generations, and between the reservation and its non-native neighbours.

Rails to Trails Along the Sweetwater: Rawlins to Ft. Washakie Stage and Freight Line 1878–1906

Randy Tucker

Published September 2025

From 1878 to 1906 a 124-mile stage and freight line ran from Rawlins to Fort Washakie, carrying mail, supplies and passengers, with stations at Belle Springs, Lost Soldier and Crooks Gap along the way.

Randy Tucker works from historic newspapers, rare photographs and his own research to follow the freighters, settlers, Native families and travellers who kept the line running, and the arrival of the Chicago and North Western Railroad in 1906 that ended it.
