What to Expect

Join Wyoming PBS on Nov. 11 in Sheridan for a special Veterans Day premiere of HOME FROM THE VIETNAM WAR. The event is free and open to the public.

Vietnam War hero U.S. Army Lt. (Ret.) Lee Alley is one of Wyomingโ€™s most decorated veterans. This documentary tells his remarkable storyโ€”from his Wyoming upbringing and service in a controversial war to the treatment he faced upon returning home and his struggles with PTSD. Following Alleyโ€™s 2025 return to Vietnam alongside his friend John Nguyen, who experienced the war as a child refugee, the film explores the lasting effects of war and the possibilities for friendship, healing and reconciliation.

The premiere will be held at Sheridan Collegeโ€™s Whitney Center for the Arts, Kinnison Hall. Doors open at 5:15 p.m. for a reception, and the film will begin at 6 p.m., followed by a panel discussion featuring Lt. Alley, John Nguyen, COL (Ret.) Stuart J. โ€œStuโ€ McRae of Sheridan, and filmmaker Mat Hames of Alpheus Media.

Funding for this award-winning documentary was provided in part by the National Museum of Military Vehicles, Wyoming Public Television Production Endowment, Rita Meyer, the Wyoming Veterans Commission, and The Marna M. Kuehne Foundation. This event is presented by the Volunteers of America Northern Rockies and sponsored by AARP Wyoming and the City of Sheridan.
